Because math fundamentals just have to stick – might as well make practicing them fun! 🔢😄
Today’s Number
This week’s digital gem is Today’s Number from Topmarks.co.uk. It’s delightfully simple collection of games that helps little learners practice one of those math fundamentals they simply have to master: numbers and counting to 20.
Designed for ages 3–5, Today’s Number lets kids focus on a randomly chosen number or pick a particular number from 1–20. Then the practice begins, but it’s cleverly disguised as play.
Kids count objects, recognize the number, figure out which numbers come before and after it, and see the number represented on ten frames. There’s even a number-writing activity that animates exactly how to form each number, complete with starting and ending points.
It’s repetition, repetition, repetition – the very thing that helps math fundamentals stick, but without feeling repetitive. Kids see the number, count it, place it, write it and play with it. Different activities. Same important skill.
Add this gem to their Aneta homerooms and enjoy knowing that this time, those little fingers tapping the screen are getting very good at something very useful. Good on you!
This is screen time you can truly feel good about. 😁
